BA strike called off

Looks like its sorted
The union representing cabin crew at British Airways today called off 72-hour strikes planned for today and tomorrow and next month.
Significant disruption is still expected to flghts tomorrow as the airline seeks to reinstate services cancelled due to the threatened walk-out.
Details of the settlement wil be made in "due course" following three days of intensive negotiations.
BA chief executive Willie Walsh described the deal as a "real step forward" with a satisfactory conclusion reached on all the major issues raised by the union.
He added in a statement: "We are pleased that our negotiations with the T&G have resulted in an agreement that removes the threat of strikes.
"We have always said that our cabin crew do an excellent job and we believe this agreement lays a firm foundation to enable us to provide even higher standards of onboard service for customers in the future.
"Unfortunately the decision has come too late to prevent disruption to the travel plans of tens of thousands of our customers tomorrow and Wednesday.
"We will endeavour to reinstate as many flights as we can for those days. We will give more details later today."
The agreement involves the end of a two-tier pay structure and a deal on pensions, according to T&G general secretary Tony Woodley.
Meanwhile, Bmi has added a further 1,200 seats tomorrow on domestic services from Heathrow.
The extra seats are in addition to 3,000 made available through the introduction of larger aircraft on routes from Heathrow to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen (see previous TravelMole story).
Bmi will operate eight additional services between Heathrow and Glasgow and Edinburgh using take off and landing slots that have been released by BA due to enforced cancellations and will also use a Manchester-based long haul Airbus A330 aircraft on the Manchester-London route.

According to ITN there was a plane going to China today that just had two passengers on it!
I'd hate to think what the "carbon footprint" was for those two!LOL They'll have to plant a few trees each...

Thing is they would have had to fly the plane with or without passangers, cause it would have had to have been positioned for the return journey.
Wonder if they got an upgrade to first?
If it were me in that situation I would have been running up and down the plane like a 3 year old."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
This whole carbon footprint thing really annoys me!
All of a sudden people have this great new term to bandi about, yet they're still happy to hop on the nearest Ryanair flight to Spain for the weekend cos it's cheaper than going to Blackpool.
Let's get this into perspective people!0
