Gutted poor you! You have made me think actually I could just say I'm not having adult bridesmaids anymore as it is making me dread my wedding day... shady on people who haven't done anything wrong but it's my day after all... it would save a bomb on dresses, flowers, presents, and I could spend a load of that money saved on presents to say sorry to the well-behaved bms... I will give it some thought, you never know they might kiss and make up before then so don't want to be rash!

Do it! It would mean that they might get a little peeved, but to be honest, if it is making you dread your wedding then I don't see what the point of them is. They are supposed to make your day easier and more enjoyable.

I would do it. Explain to the others why you're doing it, they will understand. And it will take a huge weight off your shoulders! Not to mention save you £££s!!!! :T

Depending how quiet those who've been good to you can be, tell them all you're not having adult bridesmaids now because of whatever reason you choose & then tell the 'good' ones that you would like them to have a special role in your day, give them a job & basically make them bridesmaids without the title :) I think sometimes being given the 'title' can turn them into bridesmaid-zillas!!!

Totally agree with that Mrs B, I thought I might get them all some wrist corsages made up as a thankyou present for doing the job, that way they will stand out a bit?

I should have named this thread Bridesmaidzillas Rant!
  • My daughter has 4 bridesmaids and a flower girl. We have size ranges from 8 to 20 for the adult bridesmaids, with the largest girl being the MOH. We got a really great deal on the dresses - 82% discount, but they only went up to size 18. They are easily alterable so we bought 2 size 18 dresses so that we could use the material to let out the size 18. Just in case we also have bought a further dress, very similar but slightly different in the right size, thinking that if she is MOH they are usually a little different anyway.

Well the MOH turned up at the house to pick up the dress, and immediately said - I am not wearing a different dress - if this doesn't fit I won't be a bridesmaid. My daughter was quite taken aback and didn't know what to say a it was quite an attack to be greeted with.

She took the dress and then phoned up in a towering rage saying how dare she be treated like this - it is totally unacceptable to be asked to wear the dress - she won't have it altered - everyone will be looking at her etc etc. My daughter was really very upset and rang me saying she had to change all the dresses to appease the bridesmaid!

The dress is totally lovely, it nearly fits, there is material available to make it fit, there is even enough time to slim into it if the bridesmaid wants to try.

My daughter feels she may lose a friend over this - not sure how to advise as I want to ring the MOH and tell her she's being unreasonable!

Sounds stressful. There was a thread on here a while ago about bridesmaids and their dresses, there was a lot of good advice on there about taking other people's points of view... The moh shouldn't have gone mad but why did she? I personally didn't know that moh dresses are often different to the other bms, she might have felt that she was getting "the dodgy" one because of her size. If hers is altered it could look different to the others and she might feel like she was being flagged up as the size 20! Like many women, I am sensitive about my weight and I can see how she might get upset. She might not think that particular dress will suit her... OTH she might just be a drama queen but I think it's worth your daughter talking to her sensitively about how she feels, and explaining about the moh dress.

I'd send her a Weight Watchers membership.

As if! I'm lucky enough to have friends I respect enough to never do something so crass and insensitive.
