Hello. I have recently subscribed to my local library's ebook service. They use Overdrive Media Centre to deliver the books. I had to upgrade my Windows Media Centre security to allow me to do this (I now know that this has to do with Digital Rights Management).
My issue is that I would like to listen to the audiobooks I have downloaded on my ancient iAudio CW300 MP3 player or my phone (Samsung D900) neither of which is supported by Overdrive. Is there some free software (also free of any spam/viruses etc) that I can use to remove the DRM and allow me to convert the WMA format used by Overdrive to MP3?
Thanks for any assistane with this enquiry.

Try Calibre, I've not entirely got my head around it, but it was recommended to me for my Kindle.

Hi. I just had a look at the website. It looks like that calibre is only for ebooks and not for audiobooks (doesn't support WMA or MP3). Am I looking in the wrong place?0

Oh? It says on the Overdrive website that you can convert the WMA files it uses to MP3 for use on other devices but you must delete them once the library loan period is over. Overdrive provides the facility to convert to MP3 for supported devices of which there are many ebook readers, MP3 players and phones - just not any of the devices I own/use.
Any pointers on where to look in Google would be much appreciated.0 -
Not sure what restrictions there are in trial version used but worth trying at least.May be a short term fix for you.

Thanks. Tried that. The trial version only allows the first 3 minutes to be played in MP3 format.0

i think if you google "calibre plugins" you might get some info.0

Thanks for your help so far. I have downloaded calibre again and added all of the plug-ins from one of the first websites that comes up when you Google 'calibre plugins drm'. However none of these work with wma files. They are only for ebooks and not audiobooks. Have I missed something or am I looking in the wrong place?0
