Income Support Question.

Can anyone help me out.
We have two children on DLA. Both Hubby and self are carers. We currently receive Carers Allowance and Income Support.
Our eldest childs DLA needs to be reviewed at 16. But the problem is he does not accept he has problems or behaviour issues so we would be wasting our time applying since at 16 he would need to fill in the form.
This means I would no longer be a carer. Would I now be required to work? My guess would be yes, but when in this position a few years back I was not expected to work. Have things changed?

You wouldn't be expected to work, that would be up to you and whether you could afford not to.0

Thanks.
What we could and couldn't afford wouldn't come into it really as my health is what would dictate the answer. I used to work a few hours a week (Within allowances) but had to give that up.
I just wanted to know if I needed to start preparing to apply for ESA or similar as working would really not be an option for me now.0 -

It might have been a good idea to have mentioned that you have a health condition in your original post!0 -
Sorry. I did add it but laptop was playing up and I ended up deleting some of the post by accident. Went to rewrite then thought maybe people didn't want to hear about all that.
Thing is I tried to get DLA and was turned down because my Dr 'forgot' I had a diagnosis, plus DLA said I was able to cook a meal for one. (Fine but hubby and kids want feeding too!) I accepted this though so in theory I guess I am able to work.0 -
a diagnosis isnt that important to DLA, it is your care mobility needs.
Also it is personal care and mobility. Dla isnt awarded if you cant cook for other people, only for yourself0 -
No, I realise that which is why I didn't appeal. But in reality I cannot cook just for me. I'm unable to lift the pans and things in and out the oven so require OH to help me.0
