We used Hatched which are a similar company
We didn't necessarily 'save' money but we took the EA's 1.5-2% cut off our asking price and got a quick sale
We accepted £4k less (from cash buyers) than a similar house sold for over the road, but are actually almost 2k better off after fees

EA's fees are so ridiculously high that this is a good tactic if you want a quick sale. I don't know Hatched, but the main thing is that the house is advertised online on Rightmove and other sites.

Have a look at https://www.cheapmove.co.uk there are around 15 online estate agents covering UK and Scotland. All advertise on Rightmove. Prices start at £299 with no commission.

If you consider thst an online estate agent can sell your property for say £300 - £400 all in, the question is can you justify high street agent fees at many thousands?
  • Quite agree. The only downside is doing your own viewings. However, I prefer to do this as nobody knows the house better than the owner. It's a no-brainer when you think of the thousands to be saved.

I have just literally posted about selling privately a couple of hours ago and this post has given me a little more hope ....

I'm helping my dad sell his house but really need to cut down on fees .. we can't really afford to loose 1 - 1.5% on the sale price. My dad has site called mypropertyforsale.co.uk, does anyone know if that one is any good either?

Thanks Kent_lady for posting and thanks Hoof Hearted for responding I'm gong to have look on house network now.

@ Hoof Hearted .... Out of interest, which package did you use?

I paid the £400 up front. I honestly do not believe which package you opt for has any impact on the service.

To get an idea of what they do, folow the other housenetwork link above and you can see the photos and plans they produce. After that, it's a dating service -- viewers contact HN and they make the arrangements with you for viewings and chase up feedback and handle offers.

GAH - thanks for that. I did do a search on here but couldn't find them :undecided. I'll wait to see what the concensus is before making a decision :).

Hi... did you end up using HN, and if so, how did you find them?

I've just opted for them to sell both our property, and my mothers. We just CAN'T afford the fees of £3,500 + VAT that (at least) one of the other EA's were wanting. I'm scared of the unknown, but figure that they're all a nightmare, we may as well go for the cheapest. Most of the people in our target market will use Rightmove anyway.

I read the other thread (or the last 4 or so pages to get an up to date review) and know I'm gonna look like a spammer - you'll just have to wait for me to stick around to see that's not the case!

Anyway, if anyone can tell me anything else, preferably good news stories, I'd be grateful. :)
