  • The debt was very much jointly ran up, holidays to Florida seemed a good idea when you have somehwere free to stay as they did but flights/park tickets don't come cheap, renovating the house (converting the attic) and household items.

He worked very hard in two demanding jobs and she had an affair. She keeps the house and he is homeless with so much debt :(

Holidays were his choice, houses cost money to keep up and as you say he lived there at the time. Children need furniture it's a minefield. Neither of them has an excuse however he signed the slips. Would you be offering to pay if it was the other way around.

Sadly there are no other assets (apart from his pension) she has a decent newish car and he has an old banger!

The cars are assets. What cars are they and what sort of age?

She has a three year old Mini, he has a Fiesta, not sure how old it is (tape player and no central locking or electric windows) its probably only worth scrap value.
  • The wife's affair is very unlikely to be relevant when deciding division of assets.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

Yes, I only mentioned it so people didn't think he'd left her and his children for no good reason.
