If he's close, have a drive past and see what his car looks like! did you get any pics at the time? If so, let the insurer know as they can be useful evidence.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
You keep saying your policy and your insurance premium, it's not yours, its your mums. Does she do any driving at all.
Does the car belong to her or you.
What happens when say you leave home, will you leave the car with your mum. If so you have left her paying more for her insurnace premiums.
Its maybe my suspicious nature but Im getting the feeling that there is something iffy going on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Its quite common not to be able to shut your boot after a minor rear end bump so dont take it for granted he's ripping you off.0

I witnessed a 5pm rear-end shunt last week. The girl whose car was hit didn't even get out of her car as she assumed that as it was a low speed bump that her car would be ok and in fact looking it it, I couldn't see any damage. I recommended just to be on the safe side that she try opening her boot and sure enough, it wouldn't budge. So, things are not always clear-cut and there may be a chance he is telling the truth. Let the insurance company sort it out, that's what you pay them for and when you come to renew next year make sure you shop around for the best deal.ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0

But £800 still seems shockingly high to repair a loose bumper (no crack that I'm aware of) and fit a new lock or whatever to the boot. I guess I will just have to pay though. Thanks everyone.0

Don't get how you can be the 'main driver' yet not collect no claims discount. Sounds like you're a named driver... Anyways, as said umpteen times in this thread...
GO THROUGH YOUR INSURANCE
(assuming you do actually have some)0 -

Different things. The one who uses the car the most will be the main driver. This will be either the policyholder or one of the named drivers. However, only the policyholder gets the NCD.
(Unless it's someone like Direct Line who will give their own 'NCD' to named drivers if they subsequently take out their own policy with them).0 -
End of the day your insurance will not increase by £800 because you had a claim made against you he is taking the preverbial0

Don't entertain that guy. Not saying you will, but nothing to stop him claiming from insurance AND take your £. Not worth it, just tell your Mum to contact insurers and let nature take its course.0

Best advice in this thread. Sometimes there is unseen damage that you only find later.0
