in Credit cards
Well, I applied for a Citibank Platinum card. 0% for 9 months on balance transfers. It finally arrived and I phoned up to do the balance transfer and got told they don't do 0%. (despite what it says on the web site)
What a waste of time, and an unnecessary search against my credit file. To make matters worse their online complaints form doesn't even work properly.

The guys in the locker room kid me about having a small vocabulary.
I don't know why. Mine looks just as big as theirs.

Are you sure. I have just had my Citibank card & have just completed my BT to my svings account no problems.
If i recall correctly when you apply on-line it askes what card you want & whether you want a 0% card or a fixed rate card.
I may be mistaken though!!

Hi Dave
There has to be some mistake - have a Citicard myself, and have enjoyed a 0% offer for six months and so has my wife. Similarly, my wife has now got a 1.9% interest balance transfer offer for six months and it has gone thro ok.It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -
Yep, all paperwork I have says 0% on balance transfers etc. Woman on the other end played dumb and said all balance transfers would be at the standard rate. She then asked me whether she could help with anything else.
Will phone back during week to see if I can speak to someone else as I'm not in the mood for arguing tonight. The guys in the locker room kid me about having a small vocabulary.

I must say, the call center guys in India are not the most well-trained of the lot, so pretty often I have had to go thro' the exasperating experience of educating them abt it, before actually raising my query.
But I must add, even they haven't ever been ignorant about 0% offers. Guess the best thing is to call during the week, when you'll speak to the local guys and not the call center guys...
Best of luckIt's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -
All sorted. Spoke to a lovely lady who apologised about it not being available and put the transfer straight through.
I take it all back. Citibank are wonderful. Even if their contact page doesn't work properly...The guys in the locker room kid me about having a small vocabulary.

Just to clarify a few things in this thread, as Im expecting a card off them this week - Can you balance transfer to a bank account 0%? 3card says 'I have just had my Citibank card & have just completed my BT to my svings account no problems'
If this is the case, then happy days0 -

I have to say - Citi are more then useless! I have a huge rant but here is not the place, I just had to say that of all the "money" companies I have dealt with they are the worst! Those guys in India are a pain and the people here should go there and join them! They have my money and I cant get it off them! Its been like this for months!
I am glad you got what you were promised in the end though!

Just had a new card through from them - they have decided to cancel the direct debit I set up for the minimum payment...
If I want it back I'll have to set up another one...thanks for that!
I could have quite easily missed that in the mountain of documents they sent with it and I'm sure I would have had fun trying to reverse the non-payment charge (not to mention the blot on my credit reference).0
