Hot Water on all day or not?

    If a well lagged tank loses little heat as people say, then leaving it on all the time will have it rarely fire up. So why do people then claim it's cheaper to use all the water and let the tank be full of cold water before heating it again? I think testing it out is a good idea and I'd love to see the results.

    Because there is still some heat loss. What's the point of going to bed with a full tank of hot water that then cools down again over the night hours?
    There is nothing to test-it is basic physics.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
