Hi
Please could anyone offer any advice at all. I have a 3 x 4 m conservatory with cane furniture and plants in but currently no heating. I doubt I'll use it through the winter months but dont know if I should bother heating it. Is it worth buying a new heater? If so which will be cost effective to run? I dont want it to get damp or the furniture to smell fusty so should I just buy/use a de-humidifier? Please can anyone help?

If you are thinking of electric heating, then all electric heaters are the same efficiency (100%) and so cost exactly the same to run, regardless of type, for the same rating.
Not much point in heating an unused space, as long as it isn't getting damp?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If I dont use any heating through the winter Im worried everything will smell fusty when I come to use it again...?0

'Fusty' is a result of inadequate ventilation, not inadequate heating. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Our conservatory is 16ft x 12ft and has no heating either
We have cloth furniture and cloth blinds plus loads of other things, kids toys, electrical equipment etc.
It's been fine so far year on year. No damp and no funny smell.0 -
Same as oldskool1 - I have furniture and lots of other stuff, including beanbags and TV. I just cover the TV and HD Recorder with a cloth at night when the temperature drops and have had no problems with damp or smells.0

Thank you, you've eased my worry! I wont bother wasting money heating it then. I have a dog flap in the door and I think I might try to cover that when the weathers really bad. I worried because garden chairs kept in the shed over last winter now smell fusty but I suppose its far damper out there. Thank you!0
