  • Why should Canon refund you they do not have your money and i suspect they most likely do not have the retailers money as the retailer most likely purchased the item from a wholesaler/distributor.
you paid the retailer then your only contract is with the retailer.

I agree with texranger. Your contract is not with Canon and therefore the retailer should not pass on their responsibility to Canon.

Original poster - I believe that you should not have any problem obtaining a refund from the retailer. However, if you do let us know.
  • Hello Jackann86,
I have just joined the forum this evening to ask for help with a Canon camera problem. I am afraid I haven't got any advice but offer my commiserations, I'll be interested to see how you get on.
    Good Luck!
  • Update:

I went back to the shop to ask them to sort it out as i shouldn't be in contact with the manufacturer. Long story short, I have taken pictures into the shop and they have agreed the pictures are not right, but stopped short of agreeing the camera is faulty. They have sent the pictures off to Canon and are refusing to do anything more until Canon agree it is a camera fault. Currently I am waiting to hear (via the shop) Canon's decision on the matter. I'm not very happy, the issue with the pictures cannot be due to human error, it is clear that there is an issue with the camera. Hopefully Canon will agree and this will be sorted out, but judging from past experience I am not expecting this to sort itself out quickly or easily!

Canon have an excellent aftersales service. If you had a receipt you should have posted it off to one of their service centres, they would have inspected the camera and repaired it free of charge

This assumes it has not been dropped or sand has got into the lens mechanism. And they will know!
  • Hi Hintza,

It has been in twice for repair and both times has been returned with the same issue. This is why I am not having to pursue a refund or replacement.

No, it is in as new condition, not dropping or damage at all.
