CLAPTON - Have a look at the second link in my post. The returns on the columns on the right of the table are bid-to-bid with income re-invested (i.e. net of ongoing charges) but don't account for initial charges or bid-offer spread (the initial charges can often be avoided by using a discount broker, and bid-offer spread only tends to affect certain funds)I am an IFA, but nothing I say on this forum constitutes financial advice. in feb 2001 I put 3000 in L&G uk index linked tracker ISA
in feb 2011 it was valued at 4146 an increase of 1146 or 38% (all divi re-invested)
now taking inflation into account that's probably a negative
I didn't know about discount brokers in those days but for a cautious beginner it isn't very encouraging0
