Where to swap games consoles?

Does anybody know where I should start looking to try and swap games consoles?

Is there a specific place that people use to swap them?

Would I be best going to a shop and trading in?

Would I be best selling on ebay and then using the money to buy the other console?

Any other ideas?

I am trying to swap a wii, with balance board, games, controllers etc, for an xbox 360. Is this a good deal?

We don't use the wii anymore and I am not sure how much it is worth.

My 7 nearly 8yo son wants an xbox for christmas, but I have never really played on the xbox so don't know where to start with that either. I am a ps3 person.

CeX is a good place to start. You're more likely to get a better value for your console if you trade rather than selling it.

With regards to the Wii, I guess it would depend what condition its in, how much stuff you have to go with it i.e. games/extra controllers etc. A lot of second hand shops round my area are selling just the consoles for approx £50 with a controller so you'll probably find you'll get less for trade in value, maybe £40 - £45.

Still, whatever you get will cut down the amount needed to spend on the XBox!

Could try Game or maybe local independent games shop, will depend on condition and it you have the original packaging. May get if you try and sell locally, have a look on Facebook, as there is groups all over the place called For sale Swap in (your area) or similar groups

Amazon do trade in. They offer up to 20 pounds for the Wii and up to 13 pounds for the balance board. Perhaps a private sale would be best if your after the most money. The stores don`t offer much (though they are the quickest route of course).

Think I am going to just go for a private sale, ebay or exchange in store.

I was having a word with a friend at dinner and the xbox is only about £80 pre owned in gamestation, so I reckon I will get more than enough for the wii and stuff I have.

Make sure it`s the black Xbox 360 slim, and its worth paying extra for the 250GB HD version. The old white ones were unreliable even new.
