I have a flat screen monitor from an apple mac, although the plug on this is different can it be used with my pc either by fitting a new plug (wiring instructions would be needed) or using an adaptor plug.

You can buy a converter, not cheap though (assuming your display has a mini display port)..

The monitor has an ADC plug, I've seen adaptors which link a pc monitor to a mac but I want to do the opposite.0

It looks like you'll need to seek out an Apple M8661 DVI-I To ADC Display Adaptor. There are quite a few on eBay.0
