Registering phone to Base

Switched off my phone (Siemens Gigaset A265) while i was away on holiday, now can't get it working. It has charged up and the handset is flashing "Base" so I presume it requires reregistering to the Base station. Followed instructions from Booklet ie.... Menu...Register HS...input PIN...press Paging key on Base, but the Handset just flashes "Registering " for a couple of minutes then goes back to flashing "Base". Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

BrianTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
