HMRC paye program query

I use the disc provided by the HMRC for the payroll for workers who support my son who has learning difficulties. I wondered if anyone here uses this, if they could give me some advice.

I received a P6 & there is an "X" by the Week1/Month1 indicator line - does this mean I should put "yes" or "no"? The previous ones I received had nothing there, and I let the program use the default "no", so I assume the "X" means yes, but I would just like to be sure.

Thank you

The X against Week/Month 1 means that it is applicable and therefore the answer is "yes" and you won't be applying the tax code on a cumulative basis unless you hear further from HMRC.
  • Thank you so much for the reply. I thought that must be the case, but I wasn't sure.
