Can anyone with more knowledge than me (not hard!:o) tell me if this ebay item is a good deal or waste of money? I need a PC for my daughter, she plays kids BBC games, completes homework and watches TV on our family computer. She'd love a PC of her own for Christmas but we have a limited budget.

Nothing stunning about it, but not too bad a deal given that it includes a monitor. A Core 2 2.6 should be powerful enough for the use that you mention.
The one I looked at was ambiguous about whether it had 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Given that it has Vista, it's probably a good idea to get them to confirm it's got 2GB, and also that it has a genuine Vista COA.
Be aware that it's small form factor - while that's good in that it will take up little space, it pretty much rules out future upgrades, if that's of concern to you.0 -

I should add that it's just one of several of that spec that I found - I'm not endorsing that listing in any way.0 -
Thanks for the replies and posting the link. I doubt we'll need to upgrade the computer for a while as she doesn't need it for anything serious at the moment. Cheers0

Anyone on an even tighter budget, can look at this listing: Acer M261 Complete Desktop PC * Inc: TFT 17'' Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, XP PRO £59.98
Specs here
Easily upgradeable when you find the cash.
For example: DVD Writer £16 or less, Graphics card £25 or less or Graphics Card £25 or less. 1GB RAM £10 or less.
With those upgrades, you'll have a better spec than my current PC.0
