Purchase Protection Missold?

I've been looking through my mother-in-law's paperwork while she is in hospital and found that she is paying a '5yr Purchase Protection' to a clothing catalogue company on top of the interest every month. It seems a pointless insurance to me! Who is likely to need clothes innsurance?!?!

Can anyone tell me if I can get this stopped and refunded? Or is this a form of PPI...?

Thanking you in anticipation :T

  • Firstly, do a little online research into the catalogue to check exactly what the 'Purchase Protection' is. It's very likely that the company will have a website where you can have a look at the terms and conditions.

This will give you an idea whether it's something she might benefit from. Of course, before doing any more you would need to discuss this with her when she's feeling up to it.
