You may not have heard much about the Rhythmix charity, before this year's xfactor started - when one band was given the same name, causing a lot of confusion and legal hassles..
Not to mention the COSTS, that restricted the good cause's activities..

I DETEST that man, xfactor, and all the over-hyped, manufactured drivel it represents.

PS_ why not follow Rhythmix on twitter-

and DONT vote anymore on xfactor - they suck!

Load of rubbish - whole thing reeks of more x factor publicity.

A band that is a one week wonder use a name also used by a charity nowone has heard of and they then speak to a solicitor and send in a letter.

Oooer - heavy stuff and funny that the settlement news comes in a whole year later just when xfactor are dieing in the ratings and crave any publicity after last weeks fiasco involving the kid with the hair.

This show is horrific and while I happily admit to watching the car crash audition stage I switch off at boot camp. Also is it just me or does anyone else find when they sky plus this they can get an hours recording viewed in under 25 minutes. I dont know any other show where I save that much time by skimming the commercials and overly loud voice over bits.

Simon Cowell jumped ship for a reason. Its sinking.

'Jumped ship'? That man still makes more from that show than any of us will make in 5 years...

But I agree that it is EXTREMELY contrived! There is nothing 'reality' about it. Those car crash auditions are highlighted to us not as a random selection, but precisely because they're awful. We only ever get the sob-story/back-story for a pretty young thing (with an average to marginally above average voice)

X-Factor is a way to up mr cowells profile.

you tell me after the winner is announced and they produce the xmas number 1, when is the next time we hear of them, is as soon as the following years show starts, so a full year and then 6 months latewr they are dropped by mr cowells record label.

look at the ones that we hear of all the time, its never the winner
  • lets put this on the other foot..

imagine what would happen, if a charity / firm started a business using the name 'xfactor'..?

not music related.. mo competition to cowell / syco's interests..

how long before a writ would appear, anyway?

    So don't watch it then.

Other people do like the entertainment of the X Factor, and enjoy the style of music the acts produce. Since they seem to be selling a lot of that music, you may just have to accept that you're the one with a minority viewpoint.
  • Ah, the successful Simon Cowell. Ask him what happened at Fanfare records when you see him, and if he's ever going to pay any of the people he still owes money to as a result....

I very doubt very much they nearly destroyed the charity, if anything it's free publicity for the charity.
  • So basically X-Factor brought publicity to this unknown chairty, then Simon Cowell makes a donation to them and you're still not happy?

How about we roll the clocks back a few weeks, Little Mix get named Little Mix right from the off, the charity gets no publicity and no donation. How does that suit you?

The issue was that Simon Cowell's lawyers still had actions outstanding against the charity over the name, even after the band had renamed. The charity had to pay for lawyers to defend this, even when Cowell appeared to be the good guy.

The charity has received some publicity from this, but the people running the charity probably had a lot of sleepless nights about whether they could continue operating while the legal threats were over them.
  • I heard the guy from the charity on Radio 1 a few weeks ago, saying he though he deserved some compensation. Any feeling of 'poor bloke/charity' went RIGHT out the window. Fool
