Kings Cross to Waterloo transfer help

Hi everyone,
Hopefully someone could help me out with some local knowledge or experience.
I am travelling from Scotland to London Kings Cross by train on Sunday 4th Feb. I have a Eurostar connection at 1639 from Waterloo. I arrive in Kings X at 1532. Now the train timetable says it takes 40 minutes on the tube and also that track works are in progress. So given this I would not make my 30 mins check-in for the Eurostar.
Is it easy to do by taxi or other? and how long does it take ? Also any idea of how much it would cost? Any help greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards

Your train is bound to be late arriving at King's cross and even if on time a taxi would not get you to Waterloo for 16.02
If you don't have any luggage, perhaps a motorbike transfer might work.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Thanks richardw, yeah train will probably be late at K's X. I'm lost when it comes to London. How long should a taxi transfer take? it's on a Sunday afternoon.

I disagree.
If your train was on time, you could get to Waterloo within 40 minutes. I can walk to Waterloo from Euston (just up the road from KX) in 45 minutes (and have done on tube strike days):dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
I regularly take a train into Kings Cross , and it's never been late yet - suppose it's the luck of the draw.0

The tube journey can take as little as 20 minutes, but on a Sunday afternoon you might have to wait for a train.
Have you told GNER that you have a Eurostar connection? They should have sold you an international ticket, costing the same as a cheap ticket to London but allowing you some flexibility, so that you can take an earlier train.
Otherwise, make sure that your travel insurance covers delays to public transport.0 -
Kellem9: It should take 15 minutes, but that's just the tube journey bit. You are a stranger to the system, so it will take you a bit longer as you have to familiarise yourself with the tube. I think that is why the website has estimated the journey time at 40 minutes. It has to be said that the hardest part of the tube trip will be the change of lines at Oxford Circus (Victoria to Bakerloo) it's quite a hike! Just remember that on the Victoria line, you are heading towards 'Brixton' and for the Bakerloo, you are heading towards 'Elephant and Castle'
The Eurostar terminal is near the tube exit at the top of the escalator.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0 -
If it's the same works as 3 weeks ago, they are on the Northern Line. You can still get from King's X to Waterloo by taking the Victoria Line to Oxford Circus, then the Bakerloo Line to Waterloo. This should take 15-20 mins but trains are less frequent on a Sunday and you need to allow for getting up the escalators, finding where to go at Waterloo mainline etc.
It's just over 2 miles from Kings Cross to Waterloo (as another poster said, you can walk it in 45 mins!); a taxi on a Sunday afternoon - 10 minutes max and none of the up and down escalators with luggage. Cab fare is approx £7-10 - it varies according to time taken, so should be at the lower end on a Sunday.

I forgot to add that you should have a look at the TfL site, and the 'Journey Planner' on that site.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0
