How come you received letters from them and you know its something bad when they come on a Saturday?
My son received a letter stating that as from 16 Nov he will not get any JSA because of a doubt? In the letter it says that they have looked into the matter and decided that he will no longer be entitled to JSA.
He has been to all the meetings for getting into work and has another on the 23rd Nov. In the letter at the bottom it says that he has not paid enough NI contributions for the year 2009-2010 he was at college until 2011.
I have told him that I will go with him on Monday to speak with someone but, he has refused and said he doesnt want his mum with him. I have told him that someone should go with him and listen because if he leaves it then he will not have any money.

Im not sure what to say as Ive never been on JSA but he's definalty best off going to speak to them. Hope everything works out ok0

It sounds like he's been receiving contribution based JSA but isn't entitled because he hasn't paid National Insurance contributions for the required years.
If he's single, over 18, has income less than what he can receive on JSA and has savings of less than £6000 he should be able to claim JSA income based. How old is he?0 -
Well, at least he has the sense not to want his mum to go with him to sort it out so at least that's something!0

Exactly what I was thinking, good for him.
OP I know its tempting and I know how much you want to stand in his corner, but let him grow up, he'll respect you all the more for it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I am not sure if its still the case, but back in the days of my Youth I would be turned down for JSA for not having enough NI contributions. But it did not mean I would get nothing, as I was entitled to income based JSA and not contribution based.
It does sound like he is only being turned down for contribution based JSA.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I think he needs to make a claim for Income based JSA if he takes the letter with him they should be able to sort it quickly.0

Thanks for your responses and yes I do like the fact that he wants to do things for himself. Just hope they dont fob him off. He is 19 yrs old and really trying to get a job.0
