Hanspree - any good?

flicking through the tv channels, I got sucked into the sell for this yesterday...

http://www.idealworld.tv/_202803.aspx

I am in the market for a new PC at about this price. Is this reasonable? I have not heard of hanspree before so does anyone know if they are any good? could I expect to get at least 5 years use out of it?

Also, I currently use broadband with a connection (am not wireless)...would I need to buy anything to make this PC work wireless-ly?!

Many thanks. If this is considered rubbish, can anyone direct me to anything that might be about the same price but better?!

  • According to the specs, the PC has a LAN socket, so you should be able to plug in your broadband in the same way as you have on your existing computer.

To make it work wirelessly, you will need a wireless router - a little box which transmits the broadband signal to the PC.

    Most broadband providers supply one.

If you buy one, there's some setting up involved.

It might be worth contacting your broadband provider to see if they will upgrade you.

I saw this too and it looks ok for what most people use their PC for - it won't play all the latest games but will be fine for surfing, movies etc. It's basically a decentish netbook with a touchscreen on it, so has it's performance limitations, and isn't really upgradable, if that's your thing.

For wireless, you'll need a wireless router (£20 upwards) and that's it - the PC has wireless built in according to the specs.

I'd have no qualms about Hanspree - they've been around for a while, certainly where monitors are concerned.
  • thanks - really useful info.
