DIY Picture Framing

I've recently redocorated our den and we have a picture (chalk sketch) which really doesn't match the colour scheme now. The picture itself is ok but the mount and frame clash a bit.

I had a quote for reframing but at £98 I'm wondering if I can do it myself. Replacing the frame seems simple enough but I'm not sure about the mount - does anyone know how easy or otherwise it is?

Thanks

  • Hi,

have you tried one of the online sites for frames and mounts?

    Example.

If you want a cheap frame, check out the charity shops for a cheap picture and use the frame.

    how large is it?
for the smaller sizes its hard to beat ready made frames from places like wilkinsons. and the pound shops.
you cant make em for those prices.
    Get some gorm.
  • Thanks, I had a scout round a few charity shops and I could see some ok frames but the mounts were my issue. the one that I have is ghastly (always was) and I couldn't see any frames that had what appeared to be a decent mount.

I thought online may be just as expensive however looks like I should investigate further.

    Thanks

    Hi,

you should be able to buy a separate mount that suits online.

    Edit: mounts.

I bought a mount online as the size of the picture I had didn't fit in the standard size mounts available from Wilkinsons etc. I bought from Ebay without any issues - easy and a lot cheaper than £98!
