Unaffordable car insurance

If someone steals my wifes car (thats insured) and cause damage then the insurance will pay out, so if i drive my wifes car (me not being a named driver) and cause an accident, will the wifes policy pay out?
Right or wrong
Yes, they will still pay out to the third party.
They then seek to recover it from you. And that could be a lot of money.
You and your wife also need to decide whether you're going to say you were driving with permission. If with permission, she can be charged with allowing someone to drive without insurance. If without permission you can be charged with TWOC. And you get done for driving without insurance either way.
And your wife's car gets seixed at the scene.0 -
So if a toe rag with no money steals my car and causes millions of pounds personal injury/Damage, my Insurance company pays out and then trys to reclaim it from the toe rag? Really?0

If she is fully comp MIB won't be interested.0

Yep.
If the driver is identified then the injured party can claim against either your insurance (under RTA s151) or against the MIB (under the uninsured drivers scheme).
If the driver isn't identified then the claim is against the MIB under the untraced drivers scheme0 -

Nope, being fully comp doesn't prevent a claim against the MIB.
You have a choice, either you can claim against your own policy for what they will cover and then go to the MIB for the rest or you can take the whole claim to the MIB.
If you do claim on your own policy then your insurance company can't reclaim the costs from the MIB.0 -
i know how she feels, im nearly 2 k a year. But being a male at 18 years.............From England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0

& I have no choice in the matter which could cost me my NCB and a vastly increased premium, well I never realised that, its disgraceful.0 -
To clarify, if your car is stolen and does harm to a third party then the third party can claim as detailed in #15. I don't think any of these will affect your NCB or count as a claim on your record.
If you want to claim for the damage to your car then your claim is against your insurance company in the normal way and obviously both your claim record and NCB will be affected0 -
Why did she pay £250 excess when the car was only worth £500? She wouldn't have got it repaired, and she would have got about £100 scrap value for the wreck.
The whole thing seems odd."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
