British gas - wrong bills, right result!!

A couple of important points about energy companies to use against them:
# The big 6 have all signed up to a Code of Practice which says they have a duty to provide accurate, regular and easy to read bills
# There is a Back Billing code which says that no energy provider can charge a customer for gas or electricity used over a year ago if that customer has never received a bill
I used both of these points to argue against utter incompetence from British Gas and settled on the grand sum of £45 for 6 years worth of gas usage as they had never sent me a bill, the 2 pieces of correspondance i'd ever had from them were inaccurate and finally i threatened to take it up with the ombudsmen if they didn't offer a suitable resolution.
For what it's worth a companies procedure for handling complaints would make me chose to use them or not, in this respect British Gas were great!

Thanks to their incompetence whilst it might be a good deal to you the rest of us have to bare the cost of this loss.
Whilst you can't be expected to pay ludicrous sums owed this probably happens hundreds of times. Our tariffs will reflect this.0 -

so what you are saying is that because people make a complaint about wrong billing and the company gets fined millions its us that has to pay for the fine.
so you would like no one to complain so that the company dosnt get fined and we dont need to pay more and they can go on ripping people off ?
we all pay more for every thing when shopping to cover the cost of people stealing dont we.
the money should not go on bills but out of the share holders and the company profits.
if you was beeing ripped off would you not complain?
and if you did why should i pay for it
