For my recent camera purchase I brought this

though there are other cheaper cards0 -
I do not see any note in the information as to the maximum size card it can take, but the fact that it can take SD or SDHC means that you should at least be able to use an 8 gig SDHC card it it, which is probably a good idea with 14 megapixels, used on maximum resolution it will take up a reasonable amount of space on the card. SDHC is simply a high capacity form of SD. Personally I would say you should get a couple of smaller cards rather than one high capacity one, mainly because if a card fails then you have another one as backup.
It might be best to check in the instructions as to what the manufacturers recommend. Cheapest is not necessarily a good idea, certainly not Ebay, and you need a reasonable speed, again info should be in instructions. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Not really. The camera will take a SD or a SDHC card, which is a standardised format and any card from any company should work.
Here is manual, page 60

I would get a SDHC card so the difference then is the Brand, Size and Speed of the Card and pricing depending on these variables.
Brands, personally I use Sandisk or Samsung. Other good makes PNY, Fujifilm etc
Size - Depends how many photos/Movies you want to store on the card. Look at page 62 on the manual above which tells you how much 1GB will store on the different settings and adjust the size to how much you want.
Speed - Faster read/write speeds. The Samsung I linked to is a Class 10 which is the highest speed in their range but you can go for lower classes for general use which might be slightly cheaper but only a quid or two.0 -

You don't need to get a card reader as the camera will come with a USB lead which you can use to connect the camera to laptop to transfer files.
A card reader is only useful if you intend to take out the card from the camera to transfer files.
I have never needed to use a card reader(even though my laptop has it built-in) as I just use the USB cable. It also saves risking damage to the card having to take it out all the time.0
