Hi everyone
I went bankrupt in Jan this year. I opened a COOP cashminder account but initially forgot to change my wages to go into this.
To date i still get my wages paid into my Lloyd TSB account which was the one i had when i went BR.
Is this normal or have i just slipped throught the net.
Cheers

You've probably just slipped through the net, particularly if Lloyds aren't one of your creditors. The chances are that if they haven't closed it by now they're unlikely to, but I would transfer the money across each month to Coop, just in case.
I was the same with A & L, the staff in branch told me my account would be closed within 24 hours, 15 months since I went BR and my account not only is still open, but it's been upgraded twice and I've not had any problems at all.Feb 2024:

I have continued to use my Lloyds account right through, and was discharged in June. I did not have any problems with them whatsoever. The OR was aware and happy for me to use the accountGetting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

TQ, the problem tends not to lie with the OR but with the banks themselves. Lloyds are known to be anti-BR so to speak, so whilst there are people like yourselves who have managed to keep the account open, it's not a foregone conclusion that if the OR is happy then the bank will be tooFeb 2024:

I know - but I was in constant communication with Lloyds about my situation, they were really helpful throughout. I had to get permission from the OR to maintain the account, and once that had been done, Lloyds were happy to let me continue as before, obviously they withdrew the overdraft facility, but I hadn't used it on that account anyway for several years. I still had a cheque book, and internet banking etc all as before.
I appreciate that this is not the case for everyone, but I do think that keeping the channels of communication open helped me to be able to keep my account. I had a backup co-op account just in case, having followed the advice on here, now I use that account to help me manage my budget.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

You kept a cheque book? ORs generally ask for all cheque books to be sent to them as we're not allowed them during BR period, did yours not ask in the letter requesting documentation?
Check this information from directgov. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Why are you not allowed a cheque book? OR's also request all your bank cards to be sent to them at the time of BR. Does this mean we cannot have a bank card on post BR account? Surely its at the banks descretion? My ex wife recently opened a cash minder 1 week post BR and was given a cheque book.0 -
Um... If she has a cheque book it isn't a Cashminder are you sure it isn't the book you get to put cheques in to the account through the Post Office?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

To be honest I havent seen it so she could be mistaken, she just told me they gave her one. But this does not change the fact there is no specific rule against having a cheque book or even a credit card or overdraft whilst br if the bank allowed it. The latter of cause is unlikely to happen.0

To be honest that Directgov page is wrong and should be either updated or corrected.:pB&SC No. 298
