Wow that was really good of M&S. Sis bought a laptop from John Lewis a few years ago. It came with the standard one year warranty and 1 year JL warranty. In the second year (JL) there was something seriously wrong with it. One of the things was the HDD and another was the screen. JL sent it off to their repairers and listed the complaints on the sheet to go with it that I signed. When it eventually came back the lid was scratched to hell and on the paperwork that came back with it the list of jobs done was everything bar the HDD. They phoned up the repairers and confirmed that they had not touched the HDD as it wasn't making any funny noises as I had reported. I took the laptop back to my sis, and guess what? a week later the HDD died. I took it back to JL and they couldn't apologise enough but when I pushed them for an apology from their repairers I was told "good luck with that". When I got in contact with them they just sent a load of waffle back in broken English. It was quite clear that they weren't interested and that they were obviously some sh it ty little computer shop ran by someone called Mohammed in some shi t ty little town somewhere. I always thought JL were good, but I won't buy anything from them again.

Hi i worked for john lewis customer services and i must admit that sometimes the department staff do try to fob you of a little but if ever you have a problem take it has high as you can if you are not happy with the service. Because every john lewis used to have a good will department and everytime the customer contacted them they got the outcome they wanted. hTH

I can't remember what happened. I think sis did get something out of it in the end but I can't remember what.

I was just shocked at JL using such an unprofessional repair company. The scratches in the lid weren't accidental, they looked like someone had sat there and done it out of boredom with a knife/screwdriver:eek::eek: and the SA in JL actually agreed with me. :)

Thanks for your replies. I thought that Polar Express maybe a bit too old for them but I'll go and check it out. I will probably buy the Snowman. The 3 year old gets bored quickly so I don't think he'll have concentration span to watch Miracle on 34th Street. They haven't seen "Up" and would probably enjoy it but I want to buy them Christmassy dvds to get them excited. Thanks again all. x

hi hun, haven't read on yet to see if they have been mentioned yet but Merry Madagascar is a good one!
