Sorry I don't have the link. In fact I can't remember where I saw it? Press? Watchdog? MSE main site?. Do recall the statement from a Tesco Representative on the fact that a cottage industry had grown up exploiting the DTD on price check which is why they were ending it. I never was involved but it was seeing this in the press I think that brought me back to these threadsAwaiting a new sig0 -
borderlakland wrote: »can anyone who bought the big orange, haribo halloween buckets tell me if the individual bags inside are just normal bags or do they have halloween designs on them?
they have tonnes of them local to me priced (and scanning) at 2.50 which good be handy for packing out stockings (i know its not 4p but hey ho)
There are 25 little bags, half horror mix and half magic mix and 1 random bag of either.
Did u scan the box today, was hoping the buckets would be 1p as the other halloween stuff is going through at 1p. Oh well thought it was too good to wish for.0 -

Artha I've been meaning to get onto my iPad to send you this message for a couple of days (it has my password stored on here, and I can't remember what it is when I'm on the laptop!) anyway, the other day I was in Stockton store, and was picking up three of the torches for 54p for my kids Xmas eve hampers to look for Santa, when I believe it was you said something to me, which I genuinely had no idea what you said because it was quiet, you then said something again and I still didn't hear lol, can you tell I'm partly deaf lol! It wasn't until I got outside my mam said what you said, friend of martins lol! I still probably would not of understood what you meant if I heard you, as I'm hardly on here or in tescos so wouldn't of clicked! So I'm ever so sorry if I didn't seem friendly or was to the point or anything but I genuinely didn't hear what you said. So hi
and I did notice you have lovely white shiny teeth (yes I was trying to lip read what you were saying and failed miserably) sorry matey x
If it ain't reduced, i don't buy it! :j0 -

here is the full statement:
We created Price Check to provide real transparency for our customers and to reassure them in the face of misleading claims by Asda.
When we compare our customers’ baskets with Asda’s prices, nearly 80 per cent are the same price or cheaper in Tesco than they would be in Asda.
For the minority of customers whose shopping would have been cheaper we offered to reimburse double the difference. The vast majority of our customers use Price Check fairly to check their normal shopping. And Price Check comparisons by customers shopping normally have given rise to a negligible number of cases where we have had to double the difference.
But Price Check and Double the Difference have also given rise to a cottage industry of savvy and determined people. They identify products which are on short-term promotion in Asda then buy them at Tesco, claim the coupons through Price Check, buy more of the same products with the coupons and go on recycling coupons in this way just to make money.
As we’ve said before, we commend their ingenuity and determination, but that wasn’t why we set up Price Check.
So to protect the scheme for the majority of our customers, we are changing it so that we give customers the difference, not double the difference.
It is still a commitment, and we remain as determined as ever to providing transparency on prices and to reimbursing the few customers who might find their shop was on that rare occasion cheaper at Asda.
A Tesco spokesperson said:
‘Price Check has given our customers confidence in our prices and transparency. But some people have misused the scheme to cash in. So we have taken this step to protect Price Check for the majority of our customers.’ENDS
