I have a debt management plan with the cccs and my parents have come into a bit of money and have offered to lend me some money to pay the debs of quicker. My problem is this I had a loan with asda which was taken over by santander i have phoned them up on several occasions to find out how to get a settlement figure and I am now very confused on what to do because every time I phone them I get different answers I was told I could go into a branch and pay the debt so I went into a branch only to be told the account was closed and I could'nt make a payment, also I was told that as long as I paid the debt over the phone within an hour that would be fine as well but it was'nt I phoned back within the hour and was told that the information I was given was totally wrong and that i would have to write in for a settlement figure. Has anyone had the same problem and if so can you give me some advice. Many thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum,
You will need to be more specific with the asda/santander information, regarding the exact problems etc. Then, you should get loads of help/advice on how to get out of the debt etc.
Goodl luck

If your debt is in a DMP how long has it been in a DMP and what are the details? ie how much was it, roughly what is it now, what were the payments and how much are they getting per month at the moment?
Depending on your exact circumstances you may be in a good position to send them a full and final payment offer. It does depend on exactly what the circumstances are as to what they are likely to accept...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Best to send them a letter, that way you will at least have something to consider in writing which they will find harder to change their mind about.
Send signed for if you can afford it, as companies have a habit of 'not receiving' stuff in my experience. Although, you are trying to give them money!:beer:0 -
Do it in writing and don't part with any money until you have their letter with watertight wording. You'll need to keep that letter for six years.0
