Speeding?!

a bit late for this post but here goes anyway there are NO average speed cameras there[yet] the 40 mph is for the roadworks,to protect the workmen,when you have to switch lanes they can`t judge your speed

I went through on Saturday evening from Edinburgh to Linlithgow and am in a similar position to the OP - I was at the speed limit through Newbridge then noticed the roadworks signs (but no average speed cameras sign) so kept at 50 as i was trying to overtake someone (I know, I know), then slowed down and only once I was getting towards the end of the 40mph section was there an 'Average Speed Cameras' sign and a set of cameras!!! On the way back I looked over and noticed that there were some at the beginning, just as you come out of the Newbridge underpass, but the signs saying 'Average Speed Cameras' are placed before the signs saying '40mph' - i.e. when the speed limit is still 50. Confusing?!!! Obviously on the way back I was prepared and stuck at 40.
Apparently they've had the average speed cameras up for a few days now but I didn't even know there were roadworks and it's always stressful enough coming out of that underpass with folks coming in from the left and other folks switching lanes to get to the Forth Road Bridge.
I'm hoping I don't get a ticket or anything but who knows?
