Advice on changing UCAS application

Hi all,
I applied a few weeks ago to study at Kingston uni (Drama with Creative Writing) but since then I have been doing some thinking, and working out my cash flow
for the next 5 years and I can see that its inpractical for me to study there.
My 'local' (as local as it'll get) uni is East London and has a course that would suit just as well (Photography with Creative & Professional Writing). It would mean that I could save at least 4k a year by living at home and being able to work at least 16 hours a week (and sleeping in my own bed!!!).
The problem is that my Personal Statment is geared to studying drama at Kingston so if I just add the course into my application its going to look really strange to the admissions tutor.
I know from the web site that there is really nothing I can do as I can't give them an up dated copy of my personal statment. The only thing that I can think of is to withdraw the whole application and then, in a few weeks writing to UCAS and asking if I can apply via the scheme again. I dont really wanna leave it to clearing to chance a place on this course.
Has anyone else been in this position? Or can give advice, I dont really wanna have to wait around for another year - im already going to be a mature student

I think your best bet may be to make a direct application via a letter or email. If you do it by email then still write out a formal statement and send it as an attachment.0

Sorry if this isn't answering your question but I'm worried about this statement. What are you planning to do with your degree that choosing a totally different subject "will do just as well"? Have you discussed your career plans with anyone to check out whether you're heading in the right direction?
I'm not just being nosy by asking this; I'm a Careers Adviser so this sort of comment gets all my alarm bells ringing! I really would like to know more about your thinking so do post again.0 -
you can't apply directly to a university, all applications need to be done through UCAS. the best thing to do is to contact east london and try and find out if they're still considering applications etc and if they are add it to your UCAS form and then write a new personal statement and send it to the admissions department at east london, explain your change of heart and why you want to be considered for this new course, the admissions tutor should read it in conjunction with your application - I'm sure they'll understand people do this a lot.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62

One of the girls I was doing A-levels with had a change of heart over her future career plans after completing her UCAS form so she wrote a letter, I'm not sure if it was to the course leader or admissions department, of the course she was interested in explaining why she wanted to do the course and why she thought she would be suitable and she was accepted. This was before A-level results were published so not during clearing. So while it is irregular I don't think it is impossible. In the OPs instance your idea is probably better though.0
