It can stain the dashboard though.
I use a a windscreen cleaner, then rain-x anti fog.
And wipe clean the top of the dash after.

Best stuff I use is Autoglym glass cleaner/polish. It's in their bottle with a blue label. The stuff dries powdery so if you use too much or are not careful it can mark plastics with a chalky residue which wipes off with a wet chamois. Best to use it before you vacuum the interior of the car just in case.

I too recommend autoglym. they also do 'fast glass' - which doesn't dry to a powder

Does the vinegar leave a smell in the car?

I have never used vinegar in the car always used IPA (which I love the smell of lol) but used to use vinegar at home and it never smelled. You have to remember your adding a couple of drops to the water its not like a 50/50 mix so the smell will be very weak to begin with.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

vinegar and newspaper is very old skool, its worked perfectly well for donkeys years. I don't use that method personally as its too much effort, I use IPA and kitchen paper leaves the glass streak free. I don't expect everyone else is like me though and has several bottles hanging around at anyone time so the MSE way would be water, vinegar and newspaper.

I agree on the IPA, but not the kitchen towels, some come loaded with lubricant which smear the glass.
There is some blue plain paper roll that is great for cleaning glass.

A wee bowl of water with a liberal (but not too much) sprinkling of vinegar.

Is a wee bowl like a gazunder?
