Confusing ESA letter

Just got a letter about the OH's permitted work which he has just started which is very confusing about the dates.
Thank you for telling us about your work. From the information you have given us I am pleased to tell you that the work falls within the permitted work rules.

You told us that you started work on 01/11/2011. This means that you can work for less than 16 hours a week on average, and earn no more than £97.50 a week for a fixed period of 52 weeks from 01/11/2011 to 29/10/2011 without your Employment and Support Allowance being affected.

This fixed period will end on 29/12/2011 and will not be altered for an reason, e.g. holidays or spells of sickness.

Can anyone clarify if they have mucked up the dates or if theres something I'm missing about how permitted work works?

    Maybe they mean 2012 :-)

  • I am hoping so, I would have thought they would have managed to change the year in the letter, but maybe I am overestimating them!

    Yes, it's a typo. 29/10/2012
If you earn >20 quid in any week as permitted work, you are on 'permitted work higher level'.
Unless you are supported by a professional in this job, whos job it is to get disabled people into work - supported permitted work - then you can earn up to the figure stated for 12 months - then the lower level of 20 quid a work applies, and any work you do over 20 quid a week will not be classed as permitted work.
