Is it an offence to park my car effectively in two designated car parking spaces in a public car park?
Yesterday,I received an excess charge notice (ECN)issued under civil lawThe car park was fee paying and owned by Bromsgrove Council. In order to avoid damage to the vehicle that I had parked next to,and my own, when opening the door to exit, it was necessary for me to park with the offside wheels across the line of the next bay. There was no other suitable parking space available.
I intend to appeal and am looking for people's experience of being in a similar situation.:T

OK so the car park may be owned by the Council but was the ECN issued by the Council, or a private company who lease/stalk the car park?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Confused.
If its a council ticket, excess charge, then its not a civil claim, excess charges are still under criminalised parking regimes.
If its not a council ticket then an excess charge issued by a private parking company is just a bit of paper.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Agreed, and if you wish to appeal, that would mean that a summons would be issued for the matter to be heard in the Magistrates' Court.
ETA: You seem to be missing some options, there, OP. How about "Banged to rights for using two spaces"? Assuming you didn't buy two tickets?0 -
From memory it's a code 86 *i think* for being parked out of a marked space. If you have something like that (specifically a code on the ticket) then you're pretty much banged to rights.0

We do not even know yet who issued the ticket so unless you know the car park personally, why are you jumping in again?
Council owned car park doesn't necessarily mean Council-issued ticket. We need to know who issued it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
