  • I can understand why you're paying up, but I wonder if this is one for contacting your local MP about. It's clearly unfair and you have proof.

As in my earlier post if you've already had the claim form from court I would complete the defence form

Do you always sneer at people asking for advice when they mention the words 'benefit'?

Only those who are look for ways to not pay the money back to the taxpayer. You said: Can they chase me down for money I supposedly owe them from 6 years ago when they haven't mentioned it at all before?

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

£340 sounds suspiciously similar to the maximum amount a single-claimant can receive from a Social Fund Loan (budgeting loan) . I suspect that is, perhaps mistakenly, what you applied for, not a Community Care Grant.
  • Have you checked whether you may be eligible for tax credits as a self employed person?:o

possibly with an extra disability premium too.....

At the back of the CCG form, isn't there a budgeting loan bit? There is on the form I have but not sure if it was in the form that was issued 6 years ago.

Could it be that you were given a budgeting loan instead of a CCG as it's part of the same form? :o

Cut a long story short I have offered to pay back the money at as low as I possibly can and have stated that I intend to claim the money back once I have the time to prove I do not owe it.
Now you've offered to pay it back you've as good as agreed that you owe it and you will never get it back. You should have gone to court with all your paper evidence.
