Holiday transfers to hotel

Hello
Has anyone had any similar experience?
I have just returned from a holiday to Tenerife. Everything went smoothly and I had no problems with the journey.
Before going, the agent said I could take my small mobility scooter but would have to pay for a private transfer to the hotel. I wasn't happy (it was an extra £154) but paid as I thought I had no choice.
The reps at the airport were surprised I had been told this as they take small scooters on the coaches all the time.
Another holiday maker said I should ask for a refund as under the DDA I must not be treated differently because of my disability.
Does anyone know what the 'rules' or standard policy is for this situation?
We travelled with a large provider of holidays.

IMO, what you really need to do is to find out if the travel company that you used would also make a charge if someone wanted to take a childs scooter or something of a similar size with them.
As it now stands, you have no way of knowing if charging you was discriminatory or if it is their normal practice for any extra items taken by their customers.
Before you do to much investigation, you should contact the travel company and point out to them that you were charged the £154 for a private transfer when there was no need for it.0 -
call the company as a propsective customer and and see if they offer the same advice- you should only reveal you're after a refund when you've found on what others are told, this would make your position much stronger.0
