got hit my a car from the right in a roundabout

I was at fault here, but I can't help feel that the other party bears some responsibility here.
I was at a rounabout, and may have misjudged the other cars speed, and thought I could make it. So I put the car in the bite and drove out.. Then I realised I was in trouble because the car came round and hit my rear wheel with it's front left corner.
I was looking at her as she's coming, and saw my fate. You plan these things in your mind, that you'd escape by hitting the gas pedal in these instances. But all I could do is watch in horror.
But when I was looking at her, I noticed that she wasn't looking at me, she was looking at her exit (right), and by the time she looked over she was just 2 mtrs away and it was too late.
I'm dreading the worst and I think the insurance companies will put the blame on me automatically.
Is this a rule set in stone or can I get in a position to at least share some of the responsbility?

The vehicle on the roundabout has priority.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

I honestly can't believe I got into this mess.
This is something you train for in lessons over and over again and is simple to follow.
The reason why I ended up in this pickle was I am 6'2 and driving a compact car. My view is very badly limited inside the car.. if fact when I drive I can't see the pedestrians standing by the zebra crossing in full (only their legs) because of the rear view mirror.
(So the sun shield is dangerous to put up because I can only see 10 metres in front of me with it on).
When I was waiting at the roundout about I was facing the afternoon sun directly which irritated the hell out of me, and messed up my judgement.0 -
these things happen, obviously not the other drivers fault but at least it wasnt a serious accident.0

Mind telling us where you're driving so we can avoid it0 -
feel so gutted.0

So you failed to give way to a vehicle to your right already on a roundabout AND you were driving an unsuitable vehicle for your stature.
Remind me why you think the driver of the other car was partly to blame?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Ok we've establised that I'm at fault here.
So what happens now?
The other car got a minor bumper dent, I've got the bulk of the damage. The other car is probably valued around £800.
Is it likely they'll make a claim for this? Both vehicles were able to drive away safely, and we were both a bit annoyed and inconvenienced but got away in one piece.
Will I have to pay the full third party excess for the other parties vehicle? and would it be just maintenance and refit of the bumper or are there all sorts of other legal fees I need to cover up to the insurance excess..
this is quite nerve wracking actually.0 -

For those reasons alone you deserve everything that is coming to you. I hope it costs you dearly.0 -
Depends on the honesty of the other driver, but be prepared for whiplash claims for driver and non existant passengers too.
Did you get details of anyone as a witness just incase?0
