This is crazy, I have just run a new scan with the following result,

End of the scan: 19 November 2011 17:45
    Used time: 2:55:18 Hour(s)
The scan has been done completely.
    11328 Scanned directories
    948024 Files were scanned
0 Viruses and/or unwanted programs were found
0 Files were classified as suspicious
    0 Files were deleted
0 Viruses and unwanted programs were repaired
0 Files were moved to quarantine
    0 Files were renamed
    0 Files cannot be scanned
    948024 Files not concerned
    20951 Archives were scanned
    0 Warnings
    18 Notes
717000 Objects were scanned with rootkit scan
    18 Hidden objects were found

The scan earlier was as above, how can the result be 217 hidden earlier and only 18 now.

You've deleted/uninstalled something? Your scanned directories, files and objects scanned are different. One of them related to a load of hidden objects?
    Move along, nothing to see.

I have done nothing other than run Malwarebytes and then Avira again.

It's probably just objects that are in use by Windows whilst the scan is running and Avira can't open them and scan them.Every scan will more than likely show a different number.
