Divorce in the quickest way possible?

Dear all

I hoping i can get some advice on my situation.

So me and my wife have been seperated for over 2 years now. We originally filed for an annulment but just recently (after a year of the process) we needed to go to court and the judge basically threw out the case.. Partly bec her solicitor was poor and hadnt prepared the petition properly but the reasons my wife gave the judge wasnt satisfied with the case going through as an annulment.

The only way to sort was to go through same process but on a divorce. So tht is what we are currently doing now and its based on a 2 year seperation.

The fortunate thing is we were only married for a year, we have no children, we are not after each others money and the it has ended fairly well and we have decided that we would work ambically to get this sorted which we have.

For many reasons i just want to get this over and done with.. And with a year wasted I am trying to find ways to hurry the process up. i dont think the solicitors on both sides are particularly helpful and dont sense the urgency.. I have even said to my solicitor i would pay a premium if he could make the process run quicker..

Does anyone have any suggestions on things i could try? Or is it really out of my hands? I have heard about quickie divorces but not keen to do this without solicitors and thinking that now i have paid for their services i may as well continue to use them. I would love for it to be over in 3 months if poss.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • well if everything is amicalble then why use lawyers?

personally from experience you can do it all yoruself providing there is nothing to sort out like kids sale of house etc in about 4-6 months depending on how busy the courts are and it costs £340 when you file for divorce, papers can be downloaded online and basically consist of names adresses and dates. the other side has to agree. then you file for a nisi then 6 weeks and 1 day after a nisi you pay £40 for an absolute. jobs done. total £380 quid.
