    Hi

Congratulations on your up and coming wedding.

I think you do know when it is THE ONE!

I am opening a wedding dress shop in Leicester after xmas selling ex sample designer dresses such as Maggie Sottero, Ellis etc. at a fraction of the normal price.

What style do you tend to prefer?

Good luck with the search :)

I have found the best way to tell if I actually want something wedding related is to tell myself I can't have it and see how I feel after an hour/day etc.
Give yourself a week of not having the dress you like and see how you feel?
  • thanks all! its abit weird as the one i really like is - romantica megan. in shop is priced 660,however she has said will sell me the sample for 460 as its my size!!! so i think this is something persuading me.... however theres also something else......ive got a notebook where when i look through magazines I jot down stuff what i want to look at online, and the first thing i ever wrote in this book was megan-romantica & have it bookmarked in a magazine.....is this fate...?! i can go up to about £1000 but i dont really want to, i love the sweetheart neckline, A -line and prefer the softer skirt...exactly as this dress really!! ahh so hard! theres just such a big choice!!! z

I've found the dress, haven't bought it yet! But I know its the one.

I thought I liked another dress, it was beautiful, well within my budget, had some different things that I thought would make it memorable, and fit me really nicely. And I did like it. But once it was off, it was off. Also when looking in the mirror I looked at myself and thought yes lovely, but will have to lose some weight and tone up my arms.

Then I tried a different shop, customer service was dreadful, shop was crammed and awful but... I tried on a dress and just knew. I was beaming, it was nothing like the first dress but looking at my reflection I could wear it exactly as I am and I love it. It was 4 sizes too big and I has sponges stuck down my back but I still loved it and didn't want to take it off.

Since then I have tried several other dresses on and each dress I've put on I have thought no its just not as good as my dress.

I guess what I'm trying to say (to cut a long story short) is try some more on, if the dress you think is the one stays in your mind and you keep going back to it then it should help you make the decision! I've always been taught to think about how I would feel if I couldn't have it and thats something that helps me make decisions about what to buy too! If the thought of not getting married in that dress doesn't really bother you then keep looking!

    Sorry for the ramble :o

I thought I had found *the* one but still wasn't sure. This was in my second shop. I'd also thought I'd found it at the first shop, but short of selling a kidney, knew it was out of reach. They were both beautiful dresses.

I went to try on some more dresses at a different shop and there it was. The One. I didn't want to take it off, I didn't want to ever part with it. I felt like an absolute princess; wanted to marry OH there and then (no, he wasn't with me, just my MoH).

You know when it's the one. It feels different from "it's lovely".
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

You brought your OH dress shopping? Has anyone else done this? Xx

Yes, I took him dress shopping and he was so picky, the girls there found it very hilarious! I wanted to get a feel for what he really liked.
They also said in over 15 years of business, it was the first time they had a groom in! He still does not know which dress I picked as it's with my sister 85 miles away.

    He went -

    It's sleeveless...
    Too much bling...
    Not enough sparkle...
    It's too poofy...
It's not very weddingly... (fitted dresses)
Sleeves are too long...and on and on but we got there in the end.

It was also his first dress/clothes shopping trip with any woman and he usually has no say in what I wear!

I would love it if my OH came wedding dress shopping with me. I trust his judgement so much more than the other close people in my life. I even asked him the other day if he thought it was weird that 'when'/'if' we get married that I wanted him to come wedding dress shopping with me.

I would worry about the wow factor when he saw me tho.
