Wet Roof Tiles - Do I have a problem.

Hello all,
I've noticed after rain our roof takes allot longer to dry than our semi detached neighbour. Infact it looks quite strange that sometimes this ladys is perfectly dry and as if there is a magic line ours becomes wet. We've only had the house a year and during the winter thus far our roof is always wet looking tbh.
I had thought that maybe she has less insulation as is losing heat through the roof but now I'm worried we may have some sort of damp problem?
Any advice welcome.
NB we live in a chalet style bungalow.
Martin.

Can you get inside the roof space to see if there is any condensation? The measure of love is love without measure0

Is your house the same design as next door and at the same angle to the sun?0

I suspect you have more insulation in your roof and/or your neighbour runs her heating hotter/longer.
If you have a good depth of loft insulation then yes, you could have colder (and therefore slower drying) roof tiles.
You often get similar effect in frosty or snowy weather.
What age is your house (approx)?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Cheers for the replys.
We are the same design and same direction as our homes are attached, as such the roof just looks like one roof if that makes sense. the only difference being our neighbour has no upstairs, in that there are no bedrooms, its just floored. We however have 2 bedrooms upstairs.
The house is around 20 years old and we do notice condensation build up on the windows sometimes (upstairs)
We have a small attic which appears to be insulated but it is very small, maybe only 4 feet wide and 2 tall so no great surface area.
The eaves upstairs are boarded over with plasterboard. I don't think theres insulation behind that but I've not taken one off and checked, should there be? The eaves are never damp but they are quite cold/drafty.
Upstairs was terribly hot in the summer when we moved in to the extent we had to sleep downstairs at times.
Cheers again for the replys guys and advice welcome!

NB in case a picture would help, the link below is a house of the same layout in our street.

The soffit vents are all open outside and if I step into the eaves there is a good draft coming from the floor from I assume the soffits?0

Sounds like you have a well insulated house, hot during thesummer, and I presume its nice and cosy during the winter months. With only a tiny attic heat isnt escaping from above, I wouldnt worry that much, unless you had serious issues inside the house itself, which apart from a bit of moisture doesnt look like you have. Our windows condense and its only from some poor fitting double glazing that causes this.
I have nothing better to do!!!!

Oh one other thing, I dont suppose the people before you had some chemical applied to the tiles, like you see advertised. This would cause them to shine a bit when damp, you know the sort, Rainshiled (made up name) or to that effect

Thanks again for the replys. Just a little update but It was really frosty the other day and the effect was really noticeable with the neighbours roof melting the frost very quickly. Looks like I was worried for nothing, now to look at a solution to let the heat escape in the summer!
