Tree Presents - ideas please

We're having a family get together on 27th December and, since it'll be an all day thing with some family members staying over, I thought it would be nice to go completely mad and open it up to friends on an "open-house" basis.
As there will be plenty of family presents flying around, I'd like to supply little tree presents to any other visitors who show up and there's one particular person who's likely to come who I'm struggling to think of an appropriate gift for. He's in his early sixties (I think), tee-total and diabetic. He's one half of a couple we're friendly with as DH has done a lot of work for them as a handyman. They've been to us for dinner so there's quite a good relationship but I'm stumped as to what we could give him that wouldn't stand out as totally different to the home-made sweets and biccies idea I'll probably use as standard.
Any ideas?

A mini aftershave? Have a look on ebay or amazon, they get sold for a pound or so. Just make sure you're getting a mini and not a sample. HTHSo, there are these boys,

depending on what your crafty skills are, how about some home made coasters? You can't go wrong with them, really....
nothing wrong with stylish or humourous mugs - maybe a little tea hamper....one or two mugs - perhaps with HM mug cosies if you feel so inclined - small pack of nice tea bags and a pack of fairly plain biscuits like Lotus Original Ginger Biscuits. Diabetics can usually have sugar, they usually just have to manage it carefully...those biccies are small, light and ruddy yum
Any good?0 -
Some hankerchiefs? You could even make some with initials.0

HM soap is great for anyone, and you can tailor the scents to the person. I tend to use scents like peppermint, citrus or musky smells for blokes. Christmassy smells are ok for men too. People with sensitive skin will probably manage with oatmeal and honey soap.
I wrote a tutorial on how to do it here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Melt-and-Pour-Soap-Making---Home-Made-Soap-the-Eas/Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
Thank you all for your replies; there are some really good suggestions. I especially like the tea hamper idea. I think I might make up a few of these!Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé0

I am currently awaiting the results of my fasting blodd test to see if I am diabetic-but given the symtoms and family history it looks fairly certain I am.
I have been looking at things with more natural sugars for baking, things like apple sauce cakes, carrot and banana based cakes. All use less sugar in the baking as the fruit adds the sweetness. I bet you could even reduce the added sugar-my banana cake is fairly sweet so I am thinking reduce the sugar and add more spices-cinnamon, nutmeg etc.
You can even use low gi foods like pumpkins/BNS/sweet pots to bake with.
Thing is my OH (very tall and thin as for the record) has inherited, galbladder/liver and cholesterol issues. At the moment he is also on blood pressure pills as well. So I had already eating a healthier diet
(and had lost weight because of it).
I do tend to leave gaps between eating tho, and get really bad headaches-I assume because of low blood sugar-need to look at healthy snacks and eating more regularly.

I was going to suggest the same thing - last year my SIL bought me a "keep calm" type mug with some tea bags and chocolate in (obvs you can't use the chocolate) it was a lovely pressie.
You don't need to buy expensive mugs - the pound shop have some (for a pound) and B&M or Home Bargains do them reasonably too.
For non diabetics you could do Hot chocolate mugs, or ones filled with sweeties.
Last year we had a bit of a do on Boxing day and had a whole load of Lucky Dip presents - had a field day in Wilkos, HB, B&M and pound shop. ALso rootling round at home produced some stuff. Multi packs got split up and wrapped separately. we catered for adults and children from 10 to 80, boys and girls, men and women gay and straight. Everyone had a great time swapping stuff around.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
