Compensation scam?

It's gone beyond a joke now - they've called five times today, and just wont stop. This is a summary I've posted elsewhere:
Why do I always get caught up in these messes...
A few weeks ago I got a call from some company, saying that I was due compensation for an accident I had last year. Unfortunately, I fell for their 'we're connected to the government' line and answered their questions.
I should say that the accident was as minor as it gets - a motorbike ran into the back of me at a very low speed (it was on a speed ramp outside a school). There was a 2mm dent in my exhaust, and no injury.
This company said that I just need to give them the reg number of the other vehicle and they'll send me a cheque for 3.4k.
After the call, I googled them, and realised they're a claims chasing company.
When they called back, I told them to get stuffed.
But they keep ringing me.
I don't believe for one second there's a big cheque waiting for me. I hate using the phone and I'm not going to take a load of meds to calm me down to be able to ring my insurers for the other guys reg, for lots of reasons. a) he seemed a nice guy, and I don't want to set this company on him. b)if there were money waiting for me, I'm sure my insurers would have told me - I'm in the same address with the same insurers (different car though). c) I don't want to add to the 'thousands of compo for a stubbed toe (although a stubbed toe is far more traumatic than the accident was!!)' culture.
This company can't even keep to the same name! One day it's 'UK claims management direct' the next it's 'UK compensation department'.
Can anyone pleeeeease tell me how to get them off my back?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
As scheming_gypsy says, the only thing that will get them off your back is when they realise there's no chance of them getting any money.
So, make up something that shows them that. Tell them that you remembered the accident wrong, and that it was so minor that neither of you actually reported it to your insurance company.0 -
Thanks, I'm going to ask them for their legal details so that I can complain to the MoJ about them. And if they actually give me the details I will complain.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

i did do last month, and after you posted this somebody else agreed and on your other thread somebody else said the same... so this time i'll tell you in capitals in the hope you listen.
TELL THEM YOU'VE ALREADY CLAIMED.
it's that easy. while you haven't claimed, there's money to be made. If you have claimed they can't make money so they'll knock you off their database.0 -
Dont speak to them, A lot of them are fishing to see if you have actually had an accident.
Bit sneaky how they do it. You dont realise you have just volunteered the information they want.
Just dont speak to them, Pop the phone near the TV or radio.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi. I'm new to this but found this thread and just had to response..
I was involved in an accident last oct. A guy in a van side swiped me in my car. Not much damage n he was very sorry. All the repairs and car hire fees went thru his insurance as he admitted liability. End of story.
Or so i thought.
Last few months ive been getting calls from companies (ive never heard of) saying I'm entitled to a "comfort claim" that could be upto 1500 quid because the costs of the repairs were over 400 pounds which proves there was minor tissue damage!
that was a direct quote from a lady working for number 1 accident claims in manchester.
i don't understand why this would be legit as it was so long ago and i wasn't hurt at all!
also i contacted my car insurers who confirmed 2 me that they hadn't given out my details. it was infact the van man who hit my car..his insurers (cornhill direct) who has passed on my info to these companies.
do i have some rights to complain? as i never gave my consent at any time for my details to be passed on!
this lady from number 1 accident claims says i will get these kinds of calls for the next 3 yrs! all because i didn't claim within the 1st 6mnths to cornhill so then my details are passed on! it just doesn't make any sense to me and I'm fuming that my details have been passed onto god knows how many people.
any advice would be really appreciated0 -

Just tell them you were hit by a large dark coloured Rolls Royce which did not carry any number plates and the back seat occupants were a little old lady and an even older bald gentleman both of whom appeared to be repeatedly waving at someoneIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
