Are you addicted to lists?

I have always been quite fond of lists (as opposed to doing the stuff in the lists :rotfl: ) - holiday packing, Christmas presents etc - but with the engagement/wedding planning I have gone into list overdrive!! I have lists of all the engagement gifts we have received (with a column to tick when I've sent a thank you card lol), guest list, to do list, who's doing what, readings/music/prayers that we're having, first dance song etc etc.

I also love spreadsheets - I record *everything* that I spend :money: but now I have my mega WEDDING SPREADSHEET (with each little thing listed down the side, then columns for budgeted amount, actual spend, balance to pay etc) and I love it! I could update my lists all day long. :D

Anyone else list-obsessed?

  • I'm obsessed too :D

I always have been but the wedding has sent me into overdrive lol

I also have a super duper spreadsheet and love adding bits I've bought or saved money things :)

I could also write lists all day lol :D

  • I am an obsessive list starter. Though once written: I lose them, don't tick anything off, or never look at them again...!

Jewelleryfan - yay! What's your spreadsheet like and what spends do you add? I love coming in under budget on wedding stuff too lol.

T2BG - you need to get them onto Excel!!! Scraps of paper are good for grocery shopping lists but for long-term lists you need to edit and update them over and over! I sometimes print mine out and write on them, then update them on the computer.

A list notebook is also handy - better than scraps of paper :D

I don't think so, i'll go and check and come back to you.
I'll have to look at the piece of paper on the fridge to see if it's on the Yes side or the No.

Well I have everything in sections such as church, reception, clothing etc then I've listed absolutely everything wedding related and any wedding expenses. I then have columns for our budget, the actual price and any differences either over sound or savings :) then a final total of each column.

Our budget is £10,000 but hoping to do it for less and were on track at the moment although I find I have to keep adding stuff like confetti which I didn't even think of :(

Been making a list of honeymoon bits today and it's depressing cause we can't really afford anything, prices seem so expensive :( so were hoping that with our guest donations to our honeymoon that will work out and I can make endless packing and thank you lists :D

Are you going away straight after the wedding? I really hope you get enough to cover it xxx

Our budget is £10,000 as well and I've covered everything (I hope) in my spreadsheet, right down to wedding mags! :rotfl:

  • I love lists too, mine are in excel on a USB pen I carry everywhere with me. It all started with my monthly budget and Xmas and birthday lists. My wedding list is also split into sections, I have one for each member of the bridal party, then ceremony, reception, transport etc, with estimate, cost, deposits, balance and a tick part for booked and paid in full (which at the bottom works out %age booked and paid in full). I also did a chart which shows how much of the budget is used by each category. I also added an item for increase in prices which I used 15% of the items I either haven't bought or aren't guaranteed.

I love seeing how much money I've saved compared with my estimate. Our budget is £6k and at the moment it's looking like it'll come in at about £5.2k from the money I'm saving.
