help with calculating airmiles

OK.
I have nearly £1000 in tcc vouchers (250 real money)
With my calculation thats 24,000 airmiles?
I have used martins airmile calcultor to see tha value and its saying £1600+

Am I doing it wrong based on 60 miles per £2.5 in vouchers?
I divide 1000 by 2.50 and got 400 then X that by 60
It just seems alot

Next question

Is it better to use them like this for flights or book a flight and use the airmiles for upgrades

BTW are they AirMiles or BA Miles?

(While BA owns AirMiles, they are two different things).

One other thing to check is redemption availability.

Also check what the taxes and other charges will be.

Also, you know you can convert Tesco Club Card points into BA Miles (although again you need to check redemption availability).

I thought that £2.50 clubcard voucher gave £10 in deal tokens or £2.50 clubcard voucher gave 60 airmiles.

So if you have £250 in clubcard vouchers you have £1000 in deal tokens;

or £250 / £2.50 = 100 x 60 = 6000 airmiles.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes you would get 6000 - you can't multiply your cash amount by 4 when converting to air miles. If you are a member of BA Executive Club £2.50 gives you 600 BA Miles, so you would get 60,000 (but obviously 1 BA Mile is not worth as much as 1 air mile).

6000 air miles will roughly get you two tickets to the USA (but you will still have to pay taxes, fees and charges)

arrr thanks I was multiplying by 4 thats how I got 24,000

So for 2 people on a return I am only looking at 1,500 miles per way
Must be a better way of using £1000 in deals

you can use for XL flights (not long haul though) and holidays - this seems much better deal than airmiles. You do have to pay taxes though (not sure on holidays but I couldnt find a hotel I liked at a reasonable price so never checked).

Alternatively, BA Executive club miles - this would equal 60,000 miles (according to my maths £2.50 = 600 miles). 50,000 = flight to USA, 20,000 = flight to canaries, 9,000 = flight to Paris, 20,000 = flight to Greece. If you take out a ba credit card you will get membership or book a refundable full price flight, join then cancel the flight (not done this myself but has been talked about on the Flyer talk forum).

I have a similar amount of clubcard points and am scratching my head on how to spend them. Was going to do an Avis car rental but the excess reduction costs and additional driver costs meant that it was still going to cost me nearly as much as a carjet rental.

Look at the Airmiles site.

Airmiles rates quoted in adverts elsewhere are for return flights. (you have to pay the "taxes" on top)

I'm currently saving them until I can go Round the World---about 2027

If you are planning on using BA Miles, the best way to spend them if for a Miles for Upgrade, otherwise their value is not that great.
