It is pretty hit and miss unfortunately, I managed to get 2 contracts including phones with Virgin Mobile a month after my discharge.:pB&SC No. 298

I think others are successful with a SIM only contract initially and then waiting for the provider to offer an upgrade at some point down the line, which apparently does happen. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Going slightly off post, sorry OP.
Do you have to declare your mobile phone contracts when you go br?
Do you have to tell the phone companies ?
Do some phone companies cut you off even if they haven't been informed by you.
I ask because I kept my contracts through br, I didn't declare them and have upgraded since.0 -

Do you have to declare your mobile phone contracts when you go br? as long as no debt then no you dont
Do you have to tell the phone companies ? No
Do some phone companies cut you off even if they haven't been informed by you. o2 started recently cutting contracts off even if you didnt have debt with themm so looks like they moved the goalposts a little...other providers "may" follow..who knows
I ask because I kept my contracts through br, I didn't declare them and have upgraded since.

I only ask as many on here ask how they can get a contract again, so the best policy is to keep the contracts where possible.
Don't mobile phone operators cut you off after a certain time of non-payment?0 -

Don't mobile phone operators cut you off after a certain time of non-payment? they restrict service in one way or another yes..

I kept my orange contract throughout my BR, and upgraded shortly after discharge in June. I was not behind with any utilities or 'normal' bills, it was negative equity shortfall which was my main problem.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

I got a Virgin Mobile contract before my AD. I was a customer before though and had never paid late. Luck of the draw I think.0

Virgin Mobile approved me as a new customer during BR, too, actually. Since discharge I've been approved for Three and Vodafone.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I got a sim contract , which i was totally shocked about before i went BR because my credit was so bad.
It was so funny, because i just wandered into the orange shop to top up on the PAYG, the assistant said you would be better of with a sim i think i started off at 5 pound per month, i remember laughing and said well you can have a go for the check but i will assure you it will say no , she actually said , i bet it wont. she was right.
After 3 months on the sim contract i got a full contract , two months after declaring BR i got a free upgrade to a windows phone , and a 2nd contract in my name with a additional windows phone.
i never declared either to the OR nor advised orange of my BR but got them fine.
Also with Sky i was out of contract and got a new sky box and put into a new contract a month after BR.
I also had former debts that were inc in the BR with orange .
Orange will terminate the phone if your about 8 days late. it happened as i cancelled a DD in error, but i rang them paid them and they reinstated the DD and switched me back on again.if only life was a box of chocs0
