Store card ppi help

Hi all, just a bit of advice needed regarding my Dorothy Perkins store card.I think I can make a claim as I have been paying acc cover on my card which I am now informed is a type of ppi. This was news to me.I took the card out in store approx 2007 lured by the discount.I don't remember much from the time but I know I did not sign up for any cover,I did not even know I had it until now.
So I set about finding my copy of the agreement and I found it,yay. It indicates my details and other T&C as norm. In the corner there is a box about account cover and cancellation. This box has 2 smaller tick boxes relating to the type of cover you choose. The whole box is scribbled through and neither tick box is ticked. The bottom of the paperwork is torn off, their copy I assume, I guess this is where my signature would be.
I have some recent statement and one dated 2008 but only a handful. Does this sound like I could claim. I feel I was uninformed as was the sales assistant.Nothing was explained to me about insurance or cover, no questions asked. I thought that the cover was like an admin charge or something.
If possible where do I start, I know santander deal with DP now but GE MONEY is written on the 2008 statement. Also how do I know how much I'm owed, if anything, or will they tell me that(doubtful) .
Any help is greatly appreciated x

If it is possible.... Where do I start x

  • If the card is still live then it will be santander as i have a similar situation with a Mothercare card taken out in 2004. Santander are quite quick to respond, in my case it was a no but I've just emailed back to let them know I don't accept the decision as I had no need for the insurance.

have a look at the template letters on the main site and send one off, it's only the price of a stamp after all

    Good luck
    MBNA Upheld £20,663.63 2/11/11, cheque recieved 25/11/11 :j
    Capital One Upheld 11/11/11 £2793.21 cheque recieved 2/12/11 :j
Santander rejected by them 11/11/11, counter rejected by me 17/11/11. x2 letters advising they need another 4 weeks and then another rejection:rotfl:

Sorry to ask unrelated to the OP but I have the same with a Mothercare and House of Fraser card that are both now paid. My paperwork shows GE Money, Do I write to GE or who currently provides it? Thanks

I don't know if this is any help but I am pursuing a claim on my debenhams cards for ppi. When I took this out it was GE bank who were taken over by Santander. As you say Santander refused my claim so referred to ombudsman. They said when I took out card Santander were not governed by financial regulations ( pre 2005) so ombudsman pursuing my claim with underwriters. Keep going with your claim. I hv also just received confirmation from mbna of a successful claim. They initially refused so hang in there and good luck.
  • apologies amendment to date on my above blog Pre 2005 not 1995!
  • can anyone tell me who underwrites debenhams store card ppi as i've tried to phone them and just got india, and they wouldn't tell me i took out ppi in 2003 and only just cancelled it about a year ago any help would be gratefully received cheers x
