İ have a very serviceable gas hob that has sprung a leak--the supply has been turned off and i am wondering if these things are easy to repair--it would save an awful lot of fuss and expense if it could be!-i would have it done professionally

Depends where it's leaking. It might be anything from a tap needing greasing to a broken pipe. Contact a GaSSafe engineer, preferably a British gas trained one with 20 years experience. Some of the newer trained people are not very good at fault finding. Alternatively, try the hob manufacturers or their agents.
Get it looked at before considering a replacement as that might well involve new worktops if the hob is not chosen carefully.0 -
i sense it may well be a sticking tap because it rarely gets used-they are tight to turn consequently--i didnt know they needed greasing!(as you can tell i aint an expert!)--as you say they are a pain to change --i had one done in a previous property and it needed a new gas feed point because of the differing design from new to old--mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0
