Which compact camera to buy?

Hello
I'm looking for a compact camera to take family, holiday shots etc. I'm not particularly good with changing settings correctly so need something that will work it out for me!
I'm down to Nikon s6100 (currently on offer Tesco £99) and canon ixus 230 (£199ish).
Is the Canon worth the extra £100 for what I need it for? Happy to go up to the £200 if it's worth it.
Any advice appreciated and any alternatives I could consider.
Thanks.

PANASONIC Lumix DMC-TZ20 Compact Digital Camera - Black

£218.26 at Dixons. I have one of these and it is a super camera.0 -
There is not the greatest amount in it:

Personally I am a Canon person and given the lenses of both start at a 35mm equiv of 28mm (not very wide) but the canon goes up to 224mm I'd go with that as I always find I need a longer lens.0 -
Consider Canon S95, it's just been superseded by the S100 so now being discounted for clearance https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00400OK52/ref=asc_df_B00400OK525280777?smid=A2IFN8D0J6BD2B&!!!!!googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22218&creativeASIN=B00400OK520

Thank you for your replies. Have added those to list to look at when I can get to Jessops. Tried currys but had very limited stock and none of them had any power.0

I had the same predicament only a few weeks ago so looked into compact camera's recently. I had a budget of £300 but ideally wanted something cheap as possible. Mainly wanted a point and shooter with mainly auto settings.
After some research I narrowed it down the following.
Sony HX9V
Canon S95
Panasonic TZ20
Panasonic TZ18
Canon Ixus 230HS
Canon Ixus 220HS
Nixon 9100
The Canon S95 and Sony HX9V offer more manual control and high zoom, so really overkill for my needs although both are excellent cameras and very highly regarded in reviews. I was very tempted to buy the S95, very nice camera.
The TZ20 is another award winning camera and the TZ18 is a slightly cheaper version with a few features removed. They tend to have more optical zoom and produce excellent pictures but low light in some reviews was not as good as others but not bad either.
The Canon 230HS only just recently replaced the Canon 220HS and I was tempted to buy it. It has more zoom than the 220HS and a bigger LCD screen but otherwise the same with a design change. Both again take excellent pictures.
The Nikon I didn't like when I had a hands on look.
In the end I narrowed it down to the Canon Ixus 230HS and 220HS as the others were overkill for a point and shooter and my needs. Was very tempted with the Canon 230HS as the newer model but came to my senses and brought the Canon IXUS 220HS for £143.99, originally was around £200.
It's even cheaper now with £20 cashback and Quidco.
